Classic ASP Web Developer

My client is seeking a Classic ASP Web Developer to help build and maintain online payment systems and solutions, primarily for the education sector. This role requires provable experience in ASP development for commercial web sites and applications, application design and database integration utilising Microsoft based architecture including SQL Server.
Candidates are expected to work with the Development Manager to define requirements, draw up
specifications and code the project through to completion.
Work will be primarily working on web applications, both in terms of research and development of new products and modules, maintenance of existing products and the bespoke integration and development of specific systems. We are moving towards a .NET, VB-based, technology base and will be over migrating all development to use this, so any previous experience or grounding in this will be an advantage.
* Work closely with the Development Manager and other staff to establish needs and specify
development work.
* Design a scaleable architecture to meet these goals both now and in the future.
* Build projects to specification and timescale.
* Develop data analysis capabilities.
* Perform some integration work with internal and external third party systems.
* Document all work carried out.
Person Specification
A suitable candidate will bring a creative and analytical approach to problem solving with a solid
background in a web development environment. Comfortable with the Visual Studio development
environment, the ideal candidate will also have excellent organisational and communication skills,
initiative, and ability to work unsupervised within the team.
Skill Set
The successful applicant will have most of the traits and experiences listed below:
* Degree level qualification desirable but suitable experience will be considered
* Demonstrable experience of designing and coding a web development project
* Ability to take a project through from conception to completion
* A meticulous eye for detail
* Ability to cope with conflicting demands and to prioritise tasks
* Able to manage own time effectively
* Have a positive attitude to dealing with people
* Experience of working in a busy office environment and strong interpersonal skills
* Pride in a job well done
Specific Technical Requirements:
* Excellent knowledge and demonstrable experience of ASP development for intranets and websites.
VB.net and other .NET development experience an advantage
* Proven experience of database design, optimisation and replication in SQL Server 2000 onwards
