The Land & Development Business within Atkins Environment has an extensive portfolio of regeneration and development projects and we are keen to strengthen our offering and give an improved service to both internal and external Clients by adding to the experience and capabilities of our existing teams.
We require a broad based Civil Infrastructure Design Engineer to join the team in our Newcastle upon Tyne office. You will be required to deliver design packages for land development infrastructure and work within an integrated civil infrastructure engineering and drawing design environment.

Qualifications
- Honours Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Chartered status or nearing
Essential Criteria
- Substantial experience in the design of development infrastructure - earthworks, hardstandings, roads and drainage
- Experience of working within both the built and natural environment
- Experience in ground modelling and re-profiling
- Good understanding of design procedures, change control, checking and review
- Experience in the use of AutoCAD
- Experience in the use of PDS and / or Auto CAD Civils 3D and WinDes software
- Experience in the use of DMRB and Sewers for Adoption
- Experience in design of SuDS train elements
- Experience in the design and detailing of building drainage and external works packages
- Good understanding of Health and Safety Aspects in the Construction Industry
- Good understanding of Environmental Aspects in relation to construction
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of the waste recycling development markets and providing broad technical support to the process of land development.
- Knowledge of the construction phases of projects.
- Experience in one or more of the following: Flood Risk Assessment, Drainage Strategy, land drainage
- Experience in design of highways for adoption and relevant procedures.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- The production of civil infrastructure engineering design packages
- Ensuring your work complies with Design Risk Assessments, health and safety and environmental requirements
- Providing support to other team members in design development and control
- Provide support to the project manager and other members of the team
- Providing support to other Atkins design teams
- Comply with Business Management and design office systems
- Maintaining your knowledge of current design and regulatory standards
