Our prestigious global client is currently looking to recruit a Sales & Applications Engineer to join their team on site near Newcastle upon Tyne. The work content is technically orientated; however the prime objective is success in meeting commercial targets. A key member of the team, the Sales & Applications Engineer will work closely with the department Equipment Manager and parts coordinator to identify, develop and execute a sales strategy that will increase the company's share of the department Standard Product and replacement parts business in the UK and Europe.

The Sales & Applications Engineer has responsibility for the project / enquiry technically and commercially from receipt of the client’s enquiry through to delivery as well as profitability of this specific business sub-section.

You will be required to have a proven track record in developing sales within the chemical and / or pharmaceutical markets. You will be educated to degree level in chemical engineering degree (preferably), however would consider Sales/Marketing.

You will have the ability to open doors and be a strong communicator with charisma, familiar with the market sector and keen to interact and develop.

Position Responsibilities

  • 1. Identify and secure enquiries from the target markets.
  • 2. Develop new and existing clients to maximise market share and revenue.
  • 3. Perform technical and a commercial review of client enquires.
  • 4. Prepare estimates including enquiries on subcontractors and liaison with internal engineering support groups for cost data.
  • 5. Prepare and present system calculations, technical specifications and commercial responses to the client.
  • 6. Implement product pricing decisions to meet sales and profit margin goals.
  • 7. Participate in meetings or direct communications with customers to assist in resolution of problems or complaints.
  • 8. Prepare and distributes literature, pricing information, technical data and promotional material to clients.
  • 9. Maintain a teamwork philosophy with other departments to facilitate problem solving and provide good customer service.

    Essential

    • BEng Chemical Engineering / Prepared to travel as required / Proven.

    Desirable

    • German speaking / Experience in managing sales teams.
