Organisation Description
An exciting new opportunity has arisen within a International Transport provider.
The role involves supporting business applications running on servers running Windows Operating Systems; both at Server and Desktop level, plus any other IT related Systems. The role also involves the responsibility for completing maintenance, administration and regular monitoring checks to ensure that the Server and Desktop estate provides a robust and highly available platform.
Job Description
• Working in a team of 5 people, including 4 Deskside (1s/2nd line) Engineers
• The role will involve interfacing with multiple internal and external teams and Companies/Suppliers
1. Undertake day to day activities, ensuring that all minor change work (Installs, Moves, Additions, Changes and decommissioning of IT related equipment) is actioned in accordance with agreed service level targets)
2. Provide assistance to the Desktop team, which will involve troubleshooting and resolving problems with any Desktop hardware, software or services
3. Ensure all HP Openview calls in the IS Change MA queue are actioned as per the Service Level Agreements (SLA)
4. Ensure that processes, policies and procedures are completed as per documentation
5. Ensure that all statutory Health and Safety Policy requirements relating to the working environment are understood by all team members and carried out in accordance with that policy
6. Escalate to the Service Coordination Manager any issues with the services provide that will not meet the respective service/project delivery targets
7. Minimise service disruption when implementing projects, maintenance work and dealing with incidents
8. Completes any other relevant duties as directed by Service Coordination Manager or Management Team.
Person Specification
• Familiar with Microsoft product set / windows operating system
• Familiar with hardware technology; Local desktop and server connectivity
• ITIL - Foundation (minimum) or the appropriate on the job experience
• Good organizer, priority driven, and able to multi task to meet service priorities
• Methodical with attention to detail, but prepared to meet customer expectations
• Communicate effectively with good customer focus
