POSITION DESCRIPTION:

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a well established Manufacturers company based in West Yorkshire.  The company operate on a global basis specialising in innovative design and manufacturing.  The purpose of the job is to
continuously improve the effectiveness of the Company’s Procurement, Materials Management & Supply Base through the execution and implementation of matched purchasing strategies & procedures

DUTIES:

•Identify & develop key suppliers to support business plans and develop strategic partnerships to ensure best practice in supply chain management.
•Work with these key identified suppliers to ensure consistent market competitiveness in both lead-time and cost and terms and conditions and set up appropriate supply framework agreements.
•Be constantly aware of  the technical environmental in which the business  operates to identify potential products, services or technologies which could benefit in the pursuit of its business plans
•Produce reports, illustrating the status of contract specific purchases
•Ensures on-time and in-full delivery of all materials from the supply base.
•Produce a materials cost to complete that must be available to the project manager.
•Selects appropriate suppliers to transact with the business. This to include payment terms, ethical policy, accreditations & continual improvement requirements in addition to the obvious technical specification required.
•Place annual tenders for service and product supply.
•Maintain the materials cost data-base to ensure up to the minute accuracy
•Provide make or buy analysis in conjunction with the in-house technical teams
•Health & Safety compliance
•Improve stock efficiency and inventory reduction in line with declared objectives.

Candidate Profile:
•Good communication is crucial.
•A sound understanding of Purchasing best practice is preferable.
•Well developed negotiating skills.
•A keen entrepreneurial acumen is required.
•The clear ability to meet objectives and tight deadlines.
•The ability to be genuine, sincere and take responsibility for actions.
•Build trust by being consistent, open and honest.

Employment, Educational and Professional Background

• A knowledge & understanding of planning systems that would preferably include Oracle.MRP/ERP.
• An understanding of Lean Manufacturing best practice and implementation would be desirable.
• Experience in negotiation & supplier development techniques.
• Experience of a manufacturing environment would be a distinct advantage
•              Accredited CIP's qualification highly advantageous but not essential


BENEFITS:
 
£22,000 - £28,000 depending on experience , Pension, Life Cover, 26 days holiday, staff discounts.
