Our client a leading global a manufacture and distribute a diverse range of Instruments for the Bio-Pharmaceutical sector, and is committed to delivering World Class products and services to both its internal and external customers. These instruments are high value electro-mechanical systems with specialised optical, pneumatic and software functionality.
Job Purpose
As a Buyer / Planner in the operations team you will be responsible and accountable for the control of all inventory and KanBan systems to ensure uninterrupted supply of parts to operations. Your responsibilities will also include the development of internal KanBan systems and the reduction inventory held on site whilst working with the strategic buyer to deliver the OTD and PPV targets.
Key Responsibilities and Authorities:
- Liaise and negotiate with internal/external suppliers to meet quality and PPV targets
- Develop and maintain systems and database
- Control inventory levels
- Implement and control systems for stock control
- Ordering of specialist item materials
- Identify and manage material shortages
- Liaise with production team for scheduling of long lead time items
- Liaise with accounts regarding invoice queries
- Review opportunities to rationalize supplier base
- Cost reduction exercises and suggested changes to manufacture practices to meet PPV
- targets
Qualifications/ Skills/Experience:
- Higher level education degree level, ideally in Supply Chain Management or
- Engineering
- Formal Purchasing or Supply Chain Management related qualification would be
- advantageous (CIPS, IoM)
- Demonstrable practical experience in a Procurement role
- Can demonstrate real experience in continuous improvement (Lean & Kanban
- systems) delivering strong inventory management and process improvements.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- An analytical and organised approach to work.
- Strong relationship management skills
- Knowledge of current production and quality systems
- Exceptional understanding of MRP systems
