Reporting directly into the Purchasing Manager, the incoming Buyer will be responsible for managing a designated supplier base - developing the vendors in line with business requirements and identifying cost reduction opportunities.
Standard accountabilities will include; the maximisation of cost saving opportunities, vendor performance review (including PPV, OTD and Quality), the management of spend in line with company requirements, and the analysis of lead times in order to keep production running at a premium. Internal and external liaison with key business stakeholders will be part of your day-to-day role.
Strong negotiation skills are paramount - successful applicants are likely to come from a production, manufacturing, or engineering background, and have tangible experience of vendor management. Experience of MRP based systems will be key, as will comprehension of Supply Chain processes. You will have superb organisational, communication, and time management skills - and be adept at working under pressure in time critical environments.
Purchasing/Buying experience is imperative.
