The Company

A vacancy has arisen at a successful and expanding 1st Tier Automotive Supplier in the South Birmingham area for a Buyer within the NPI (New Product Introduction) department.

The Role

The role of Buyer will include the following key responsibilities:

• Responsibility for defined purchasing activities throughout the company and for exploring alternative purchasing opportunities and solutions.
• To manage the purchasing function for both consumable and direct materials in line with established purchasing principles and procedures set out at local and group level.
• Support the NPI team with new and existing projects.
• To assist in cost reduction activities throughout the company and manufacturing process.
• To source, audit and negotiate with new and existing suppliers which will support the growth of localisation.
• To work closely with the centralised purchasing function and other purchasing functions to achieve maximum benefit from suppliers.
• Manage supplier contracts including Supplier Audit and Selection, RFQ, and Letter of Intent, Tooling Orders, Supply Agreements and negotiating ongoing Cost Reduction Activities.
• Set up and manage the Approved Supplier Data base including cost history and maintain and report KPI`s.
• Develop and perform the raising of daily purchase orders to maintain pre determined stock levels for consumables.
• Manage and create contracts for service providers.

 The successful Buyer will have the following experience and skills:

• Gained or be working towards CIPS and have a working knowledge of computerised desk top modules to include Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Familiar with MRP / MPS systems
• A minimum of 2 years experience gained from within a fast moving manufacturing environment, ideally Automotive, you will be a strong negotiator and have previous commodity knowledge including steel, mechanical parts and plastics.

The Reward

Along with a competitive salary of £28,000 - £32,000 per annum plus benefits there is ongoing training and development.
