Business Systems Engineer

Our client is a fast growing and acquisitive UK division of an international manufacturing and services business and a leader in their field. This is an extremely exciting time to join the business with many new projects in the pipeline and the inevitable opportunity for career development.

They are seeking to appoint a capable and technically strong business systems engineer to provide exceptional day to day business system support to end users, as well as identifying opportunities for system improvement and implementing effective solutions. This isn't a pure technical role, but one in which you will support and communicate effectively with the business so as to deliver technological advancements enabling greater efficiency and control. You will be motivated by making business focused improvement.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide first line business systems process and operational support to end users and promptly resolve any issues, where necessary, through liaising with external partners

• Work closely with both internal and external customers to both maintain and identify opportunities, to enhance business systems to improve productivity, efficiency or for business benefit
• Develop the specification, test and deliver agreed business system enhancements including:
• Development of the SQL database including SQL stored procedures and triggers
• Development of applications using SQL, HTML, XML
• Maintaining system functionality through the use of source control for all projects
• Review and analyse the latest industry trends and where appropriate propose and implement developments to the business systems ensuring that these are aligned to the IT strategy
• Identify the reporting requirements of customers and write the appropriate report in SSRS and Crystal
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for use by other members of the team as well as end users
• Provide training for staff to ensure competent and effective use of business systems

Essential Skills

• Programing capability in Visual Studio .Net, C#, SQL
• Some experience of SQL in a corporate environment
• Understanding of Microsoft SQL server, knowledge of triggers and stored procedures and the principals of database development
• Strong grasp of SSRS, Crystal or other DB reporting tools
• Understanding of Source Control
