Job Description

Client: Oil & Gas

Role: Business Analyst

Duties:
(1) Reporting and Trend Analysis of Corporate Results: The role has responsibility for analysing and reporting the profit, capex and cash flow components within the Corporate business. He / she will need to work closely with other members of the Planning & Reporting team, the Business Units, Treasury and Group Reporting, and display a deep understanding of the issues and trends driving business performance and results. The role also requires the individual to communicate and discuss the results with Group Reporting, Tax, Corporate Controller and Investor Relations and occasionally external auditors. The individual will also be critical in driving improvements in the reporting processes and tools.

(2) Latest Estimates: The incumbent will work closely with the Business Units & Treasury to ensure that a robust Latest Estimate is derived on a regular basis. The LE is presented to and rationalised with senior management and Group Reporting.

(3) Coordination of Corporate Operational Plan: As a way to enhance their own development, the candidate will be expected to coordinate the preparation and submission of the operational plan. This includes liaison with Strategy & Planning and the Central Functions and will require the individual to understand the cost structure of the sector. Monitoring and reporting of performance against plan also forms part of the position responsibilities.

(4) IFRS: The candidate will be responsible for keeping abreast of the changes in relevant accounting standards and providing advice and support to the team and Business Analysts. The candidate will be expected to work closely with Group Reporting in compiling and reviewing any Group Audit Review Papers that impact the Corporate sector.

(5) Other special projects: Once established, the candidate will be expected to participate in projects to enhance the deliverables of the team. In addition, the candidate is expected to have a working knowledge of the roles and tasks of other Corporate Finance team members (Treasury Reporting and Cost Reporting) to be able to assist during times of high pressure and work together with them to continuously improve processes.
