We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Business Analyst to join our extensive IT Department in Harrow



The Role

The role of the Business Analyst is o work closely with the Wickes Business functions, understanding and documenting their requirements, proposing appropriate solutions and translating them into functional specifications to be used by the IT development teams. Remaining involved throughout the project lifecycle, acting as the business expert, ensuring that the IT solutions delivered satisfy business needs.

Other Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

  • Analyse business problems and opportunities to understand high level business objectives and detailed IT requirements

  • Support business colleagues on the development of business cases

  • Work with IT colleagues, business colleagues and were appropriate third parties to propose IT solutions which satisfy business needs and conform with business and IT strategies

  • Work with key stakeholders to produce Project Proposal Forms which outline business requirements and proposed solutions

  • Produce functional specifications and other related documents, in accordance with current IT and business standards

  • Where appropriate, document existing and future business processes. Note: this does not remove the need for business departments to document business processes

  • Throughout the project lifecycle, provide the link between business, IT and third parties regarding business requirements

  • Agree user acceptance criteria with key business stakeholders and play an active role in the development and execution of user acceptance tests

  • Throughout the project lifecycle manage change requests ensuring that requirements are clarified and that the impact on functionality and project delivery timescales are understood and agreed with key project stakeholders

  • Working with IT project management, manage business expectations and issues arising out of exceptional circumstances or delays within the project plans whilst in turn promoting good working relationships (taken from the PM JD)

  • Liaise with all IT Teams regarding design reviews and implementation.



What Are We Looking For?

The successful candidate will have/be
  • Strong communication skills – workshops, presentations, documentation, liaison with business and IT stakeholders.

  • Self-motivated with drive and initiative. Capable of working autonomously, without day-to-day supervision

  • Commercially minded (retail experience desirable but not essential)

  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently

  • Ability to develop empathy with business users and key stakeholders and to work effectively in cross-functional teams

  • Resilient, with the ability to challenge business and IT stakeholders when appropriate

  • Experience of analysing and documenting complex business requirements

  • Experience of writing requirements analysis and functional design specifications

  • Good knowledge of the full software development life cycle in a commercial environment.

  • .Numerate and able to apply logical problem solving.

  • Highly analytical with attention to detail.

  • Focussed on customer service and quality.
