British Army Paratrooper
Starting salary £14,000 - £17,500 pa + £2,000 pa specialist parachute pay
Land on your feet with a top career with the British Army.
The role
Join the Parachute Regiment, and you will work at the vanguard of operations in the most demanding circumstances. You’ll start by undertaking the Combat Infantryman Course, the Parachute Regiment (CIC) PARA in Catterick, a 28-week course teaching you core infantry skills. This will include Pre Parachute Selection, a series of physical events designed to test determination, fitness, stamina, and teamwork skills. Then you will earn your jump wings through parachute training at RAF Brize Norton. The rest is up to you, though there will be plenty of opportunities for promotion.
The requirement
To succeed, you’ll need to be male, aged between 16 and 33, with a high level of physical fitness and mental robustness. Known for your motivation, self-confidence, and initiative, you’ll be able to operate at the limit of your endurance and sustainability with little warning and in complex and ambiguous situations. Bring these qualities in spades, and you’ll pass our selection and fitness criteria at the Army Development and Selection Centre with flying colours.
