Due to continued expansion and commercial success my client, a leading removal and storage provider specialising in Fine Art, now seeks to appoint an Assistant Shipping Manager to be based in their New York offices.

Reporting to the Shipping Manager the successful applicant will be responsible for the following:

- Assisting the Shipping Manager in the smooth and successful day to day operation of international imports and exports.
- Understand, implement and maintain regulations and standards for import/export and licensing in relation to the domestic and international market.
- Maintain an overview and analysis of cost/charge; profit/loss; rates and pricing policy estimate and tender, turnover and profitability relating to international shipments for clientele.
- Business Development through customer management skills
- Manage the whole shipping process to ensure customer expectations are satisfied.
- Forward planning of all operational requirements to ensure adequate resources are available.
- Ensure all shipments and files are managed and controlled relating to TSA requirements.
- Collate and analyse customer feedback.

The successful applicant will have the following attributes / experience / qualifications:

- Experience in fine art shipping, with a knowledge of air, sea and road procedure and customs import and export regimes.
- Knowledge of fine art handling and the systems and practices used in the shipping, storage, casing and installation of artwork through the various sectors of the fine art and creative industries.
- Proven connections with third party shippers and freight forwarder companies.
- The ability to work on your own initiative and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff at all levels.
- Comprehend, accurately discuss and evaluate requirements for all international shipments
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Competent IT skills in all relevant software.
