Assistant Accountant / Accounts Administrator

The Company

Our client is a very successful and long established supplier of ready mixed concrete products to the DIY, Contract and Commercial sectors. Due to continued growth and expansion into new markets they are seeking a competent, reliable and commercially focused Assistant Accountant to join their team.

The Role

The successful Assistant Accountant will have a proven track record in running the accounting functions within a Small Business Environment.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful Assistant Accountant will have experience of the following:

  • Manage cash flow and keep up-to-date records
  • Credit Control
  • Maintain Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger and Nominal Ledger
  • Complete and produce monthly management accounts
  • Complete weekly and monthly payroll
  • Reconcile and complete statutory forms for VAT and PAYE


During the interview process you will be expected to demonstrate the following experience and personal attributes:

  • Experience of Sage Line 50 and Sage Payroll
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Commercial awareness
  • An ability to work to fixed deadlines
  • Attention to detail essential
  • Flexible and reliable
  • Able to manage own workload
  • Task focused
