DIESEL FUEL PUMPS
GILLINGHAM, KENT

We are seeking an Applications Engineer to develop and validate a new generation Common Rail (CR) fuel pump through vision of customer/company requirements and the use of innovative concepts that provide competitive advantage in performance, cost and quality.

As Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for the interface between the CR HP Pump team and the customer base, ensuring that pump properties are in line with customer and company requirements, with maximum communality with existing pumps. In addition, you will lead the development of a Customer Product Specification.

You will be involved in initiating technical gap analysis for new project/new customer requests and developing solutions with the Diesel Fuel Pump teams (Design, Development, Validation and Manufacturing engineering) using standardized methods. You will also be looking after the serial engineering modification of some applications (RFQ preparation, implementation monitoring and customer communication).

You will participate in competitive analysis and bench marking with the Applications Team and Lead Design Engineer and apply ICIM methods using DOEs, 6 Sigma, Green Y and other statistical tools to achieve product robustness (training will be provided to fill current gaps in experience level). You will remain positive and encourage, coach, and share knowledge with all CR pump cross-functional team members.

To succeed as Applications Engineer, you will have an Engineering degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject. You must have previously developed and supported a product that was taken successfully into volume production and you will be innovative and visionary in developing design options. You will understand and apply physics to the development process and have the ability to deliver technical presentations to customers and others. You will also have technical French language skills and be willing to travel for training, working with customers and resolving problems on projects as necessary. Basic project management skills are desirable, as is HP Pump and CR System development experience and DOE and statistical analysis knowledge.
