My client is a leading retail organisation.

Job Description

Position within the Application Support Department, based in Solihull. This role includes providing 2nd line support to stores and head office users on the iSeries / AS/400 (in-house merchandising system-JDA Based) platform; this will involve investigation and documentation of any incidents raised.

The role will also include carrying out software testing and implementation of bug fixes and amendments, as well as liaising closely with 3rd parties and head office users.

An excellent knowledge of iSeries / AS400 and it associated functions, including EPOS is required, as well as a willingness to learn new technologies.

You will be required to build an understanding of business processes to help identify areas that could be improved.

Candidates must have good communication skills and be capable of liaising with 3rd parties in a professional manner. A good understanding of CL / Query & RPG is also required.

As part of the role you would be required to do out of hours support (including weekends) within a team rota system.

We are looking for someone who is well organised, highly self-motivated, and able to work on his or her own initiative. Candidates will also have a strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn quickly. Fuller requirements are detailed below.

An exposure to accounting standards would also be beneficial, but not essential.

The role supports business functions at the London and Solihull sites, and there could possibly be a need to travel between the two sites on occasion.

Summary of key responsibilities:

• Investigate issues on the on the in-house merchandising system and bring to resolution as efficiently as possible.
• Out of hours (including weekends) support for iSeries Applications
• Document resolutions clearly.
• Ensure effective communication to IT Staff and end users
• Documentation of operating procedures
• Creation of test scripts and test plans, perform testing and implementation of software.
