Our client is now seeking a 1st line support analyst/ 1st line support advisor to join their rapidly growing team. The company operates in a rapidly expanding internet market and is experiencing phenomenal growth. This position is available due to the previous post holder gaining promotion into development role so there is fantastic career progression available. The role is based in cool offices in the Northern Quarter of Manchester.


The job is to maintain all IT Systems to a high standard ensuring operational availability and to respond effectively to all helpdesk requests from internal colleagues.

Tasks, duties & responsibilities:

  • Install, configure and upgrade operating systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages.
  • To be responsible for an area of technical expertise
  • Conduct research of new networking technologies where applicable
  • Install, assemble and configure computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripheral such as printers, scanners and related hardware as required for new installation and office reconfiguration
  • Act as a technical resource to assist the business users
  • Make hardware and software acquisition recommendations
  • Maintain current knowledge of hardware, software and network technologies

Essential skills:

  • Ability to install, troubleshoot and upgrade Windows based operating systems
  • To be able to work as part of a team, prioritising your work, on more than one task concurrently, to tight deadlines.
  • To have proven formal documentation skills.
  • To be able to demonstrate examples where you have been required to show initiative, had the ability to solve problems of a complex nature, be innovative and displayed good interpersonal skills..
  • To be articulate and able to communicate technical issues to all levels of management.
  • Understanding of Client / Server communications on complicated networks.
  • 2 years commercial experience in similar role or graduate with year out work experience

Qualifications & Professional Membership:

Any further education or higher qualification relevant to a career in Computing and IT including (and not limited to) BTEC, AS Level, A Level, HNC, HND, BSc, MSc NVQ Level 3-5, GNVQ Level 3-5 etc.

Microsoft MCP or A+ training/accreditation desirable.
