This leading manufacturer has a global blue chip client portfolio, and a reputation for innovation and technical excellence, matched by ambitious plans for growth. A high calibre finance function is a key element of the business success. This newly created role offers a challenging mix of day to day management and commercial support to the wider business. Reporting to and deputising for the Finance Director, managing a focused finance team. The organic growth and acquisitive nature of the Company and Group will offer the opportunity for future progression in finance, or within general management.
The purpose of the role is to provide the business with excellent accounting, delivering accurate and timely financial information to meet business objectives. Ensuring internal and external compliance requirements are met and robust internal controls continue to operate. Providing commercially based management reporting to the business including accurate product costing, budgeting and forecasting.
Key areas of accountability will cover:
• Providing leadership and guidance to immediate and extended teams to ensure they are appropriately trained and developed to provide support of the highest quality to the business
• Preparing the monthly management accounts in full to strict schedule, with initial commentary. To review accounts for completeness, raising any issues with management
• Ensuring completeness and accuracy of accounting records and supporting documentation and audit trails
• Preparing half yearly financial and Statutory accounts along with other financial returns in order to accurately and fairly reflect the performance of the Company, ensuring their completion
• Supporting commercial activities of the business including preparation of 5 year plan and robust budgeting and forecasting
• Working with operational managers and purchasing to ensure accurate pricing of existing and new products, challenging variances as required
• Supporting plans for and reporting on Capital Expenditure projects
• Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of stock accounting, including physical stock
• Providing analytical support to Shared Services to include variance analysis, budgeting support and technical advice
• Maintaining sufficient accounting records to ensure clean audit report by external auditors and government agencies
• Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory financial and other reporting obligations of the Company
• Providing advice and support and suggesting improvements to the Finance Director in the areas of Accounting, Reporting and Policy compliance
• Ensuring the most efficient use and development of the finance ERP system
• Ensuring the maintenance of the cash book, managing the foreign currency exposure and maintaining the Company’s position within agreed banking facilities
• Preparing cashflow forecasts for sterling and forex
The role offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified, commercially aware, finance professional. Candidates must be able to demonstrate up to date technical accounting knowledge, staff management experience and experience of producing management and statutory accounts. Manufacturing experience and the use of an integrated ERP system, ideally SAP, is essential.
