Insurance Part of a leading international group, our client specialises in the development, manufacturing and sales of precise surface analysing equipment. The group employs more than 300 people globally and has manufacturing facilities in Europe and the USA in addition to the UK.

They are now looking to appoint a Managing Director. For this senior, high profile position, our client is looking to recruit an exceptional leader with extensive experience in material testing to play an instrumental role in driving growth within the company. Equally as important is a track record of selling instrumentation to industrial and scientific markets. As the Managing Director you will be responsible for the sales, marketing and service operations within the UK division. You will also take responsibility for the on-site manufacturing of electronic sensors.

Your main duties will include: - Developing marketing and sales strategies to increase market share for new and existing products - Increasing product application knowledge at all levels, throughout the company - Managing the regional sales team including organising advertising and exhibitions, and writing papers - Managing all commercial elements of the business - turnover, profit, price settings, investments - Co-ordinating the local manufacturing of electronic sensors and service operations - Observing competitor activity to define and implement competitive strategies - Reporting financial and marketing data to the group’s head office

To be considered for this position you will be a strong and motivational leader with extensive experience in material testing, for example NDT, X-Ray analysis etc. You must also have experience of selling sophisticated instrumentation to industrial and scientific users. As the Managing Director you should also be at home in a sales/marketing environment, and be technically and intellectually competent. You must also have the ability to solve problems on your own if necessary - not just through delegating to your staff. A Masters degree (or equivalent) in related discipline, such as metallurgy, physics or material sciences, would be beneficial to your application, as would an enthusiasm for technology, especially measurement instrumentation.
