ACCA currently offers CBEs at the Introductory and Intermediate Stages of its Certified Accounting Technician qualification and at the Fundamental Knowledge module level of its professional accounting qualification.

The area of e-assessment is expanding rapidly, making this a challenging and important role. The Qualifications e-Assessment Adviser will contribute to the educational developments in this area, whilst supporting the quality control of ACCA’s computer-based exams (CBEs).

The Qualifications e-Assessment Adviser will work closely with the Qualifications Development Manager (e-Assessment) and the Head of Qualifications in delivering the educational aspects of this goal. This will entail having input to:
• the overall quality control of the current Computer based Exams (CBEs), including:
o quality assurance of question content
o ongoing monitoring of question statistics
o training of question writers in good e-assessment practice
• initial phases of the revised technician level qualification, including
o contributing to the design and development of new question types
o carrying out training and testing as required.

The Qualifications e-Assessment Adviser will work closely with the team responsible for operational delivery of CBEs within the Exams team.
 • Work closely with the CBE team to ensure that quality control processes are followed and implemented
• Work with Qualifications Technical Advisers and Examiners to undertake reviews of the technical content and general quality of all CBE questions and question banks
• Perform regular reviews of item level and test level statistics, to identify items in need of amendment and also to monitor trends over time
• Play a key role in supporting new and existing CBE question writers, along with examiners and ACCA staff, in conjunction with the CBE Exams team. This will be achieved through the running of training courses and provision of feedback to question writers
• Work with the Qualifications team and CBE team to help advance the next generation of e-assessments
• Work closely with the CBE team to review and revise the production cycles and other processes as needed to ensure efficiency and quality
• Contribute to any other e-assessment related activities taking place within the Qualifications team

The Qualifications e-Assessment Adviser should:

• be educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in a business or finance area
• have experience of exam testing preferably in a computer-based environment
• ideally have experience in the development and quality assurance of
e-assessments
• ideally have knowledge and understanding of psychometrics within the context of assessment
• ideally have experience of working in an educational environment
• display an interest in the latest developments in computer-based assessment
• have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and external contacts/clients
• be a highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic individual who is able to work on their own initiative with the ability to meet strict deadlines
• possess a high level of computer literacy
• possess an excellent eye for detail
