Organisation DescriptionFocusing on diversifying into new products and building on our existing capabilities are just two of the ways we aim to grow our business. Of strategic importance for us now, in both the UK and wider Europe, is our expansion into variable annuities (unitised products with guarantees).
Business Actuarial is responsible for pricing and supporting proposition development of unitised products. It’s part of Shareholder Value, which supports the CFO in major projects of strategic and financial significance

Job DescriptionAs one of our Actuarial Assistants you’ll:
? help with the design and risk management of guaranteed products
? calculate, analyse and advise on:
- economic costs of guarantees added to unitised products
- market consistent value of new business (MC VNB), and
- cost of capital, to enable a more focused and efficient product design
? develop and maintain the models to determine the economic cost of guarantees, MC VNB and capital requirement, making sure they’re consistent with the detailed models used by the Derivatives Groups in other parts of the company throughout the world
? advise on how to change product design to make the charges more marketable or to bring about a more acceptable financial position
? assess the likely impact on capital requirements of proposed designs, helping determine appropriate levels of capital
Person SpecificationTo be one of our Actuarial Assistants, you should ideally:
? have experience in programming code, including Excel spreadsheets/VBA
? have some actuarial exam passes
? have experience of using actuarial modelling software, eg VIP/Prophet
