Role description for Application Consultant
As a member of the UK services team you will report to the European Operations Manager in the first instance.
The key responsibilities and associated duties of this position fall into the following main areas:
1. Installations and Training
• Installing and configuring the Vista system at clients sites & head office
• Carrying out staff training at cinemas & head office on the software
• Training client IT staff on technical / advanced aspects of the software (how to install and use)
• Windows / network / hardware configuration and deployment as required to support the Vista system
• This may involve national and international travel (generally within Europe)
2. Customer Support
• Investigating and resolving problems that arise with our software
• Using SQL Server and SQL statements to assist with problem solving
• Reading and interpreting error logs
• Recording all details of support calls into our issue tracking system
• Carrying a mobile phone to answer urgent after hours support calls on a roster basis
• Working with staff at Vista’s head office in New Zealand to solve complex problems, and ensure that any bugs are correctly logged for resolution.
3. Miscellaneous
• As a growing office in the UK, the nature of the work will inevitably be varied. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys a challenge, is capable of working independently, and is capable of growing into increased responsibility as the European operation grows.
• Assist in devising and documenting our own best practices in order to always build on our experience and improve our processes.
• Some business analysis skills – the software is very flexible in the way it can be implemented, so listening to and understanding clients’ requirements is crucial in configuring the software to meet their needs.
• Tracking software versions that have been applied, testing software releases prior to applying to live sites.
Skills
Required
• Intelligent, motivated, fast learner
• An additional European language
• Great client-facing skills, excellent verbal and written communication, well presented.
• EITHER University degree-qualified in an IT / computer related field (with excellent grades), OR minimum 3 years experience in a hands-on IT role (support analyst, software installer or similar).
• Experience working with databases
• Basic knowledge / experience of software development concepts (any language) – XML, web services, relational databases, .NET framework.
• Some technical experience with advanced aspects of Windows – DHCP, DNS, IIS, AD and network configuration.
Desirable but not essential
• Basic knowledge of accounting concepts
• Knowledge of MS SQL Server, and a knowledge of T-SQL
