Sales Representative Job Description

Reports to: Sales Manager

Based: Head Office in Bromsgrove ( approx 70% of time spent in field)

Territory: Company operates within a 50-mile radius of Birmingham.
Working territories are flexible within this area.


Objective: To achieve targeted level of new business service contracts

Tasks:

To identify new business opportunities in line with the companys sales plan of;

50% of clients from the staff restaurant sector

20% of clients from hotels and restaurants

30% of clients from colleges, schools, golf clubs, retail etc.

Qualify (telephone) potential clients in terms of;

Identify and make contact with decision maker(s)

Establish history of kitchen deep cleaning

Qualify actual potential for business

Establish budget and timeframes for potential work

Having satisfied the above arrange first meeting with prospect to;

Further qualify and ratify the above

Present our credentials and service differentiators

Carry out a survey of kitchen

Agree a suitable meeting to go back with the work schedule

Write up the survey and ask support staff to produce work schedule

Take work schedule document back to prospect and;

Present the proposal/work schedule

Secure commitment to the service contract

Consolidate business relationship with regular client contact to;

Ensure client happy with service standards

Gain referrals and carry out networking

React to sales enquiries by qualifying and visiting, as appropriate

Measure and monitor their own key sales activity ratios to include;

Average order values

Conversion ratio proposal: order

Conversion ratio visits: proposal

Conversion ratios telephone qualification: visit

Manage their own sales activity plans in line with the above key ratios, to achieve targeted results

Attend agreed training programmes, both in-house and external as appropriate.

Comply with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy at all times

 

Person Specification

Essential

Successful business-to-business track record

Proven sales skills, with the emphasis on ‘consultative selling’

Organised, disciplined and able to think tactically in terms of sales planning

First class verbal communication skills


Desirable

Experience of selling service contracts


Notes

All the above skill sets should be transferable, so direct experience of our sector is not necessary

Full product and service training will be provided

The company enjoys a proactive culture of training and development, so a willingness to learn is important


Rewards

Basic salary on joining of £18,000.

Commission is paid quarterly, and is uncapped. On target earnings are £34-36k.

Company car or car allowance is provided, together with mobile telephone.

20 days paid holiday plus statutory bank holidays.

Company pension plan is available whereby after 1 years service the employees’ contribution is matched by the company.
