Description

The Chartered Economist Professional Program consists of five online, interactive modules which provide an in depth analysis of global micro/macro economic concepts, case studies, and practical applications.

This course is module 1 of a five module program designed to prepare professionals for the Chartered Economist Certification. Each module focuses on different economic principles that are covered in the ChE Certification Exam.

Upon completion of all 5 modules, students will be eligible for 20 CE Continuing Education credits AND a to apply for a credential from the GAFM American Academy of Financial Management (click HERE for more info).

This course combines standard textbook learning with a variety of video/audio components and contains many interactive, animated pieces created through rapid e-development tools to provide the student with a variety of differentiated tasks to further enhance learning. The total amount of content is roughly 15-20 hours between the reading, videos lectures, and interactive pieces.

Chartered Economist Professional Program

Module 1: Introduction to Corporate Economics

This module provides a general overview of the theories and other factors that impact the Managerial Economists role in the corporation including: The Theory of the Firm; Business Models; The Nature of Competition; Market Failure; and International Business Strategy.

Module 1 content will be revealed through the study of the Enron case - the first major business failure of the “new economy.” Activities will include assigned readings, interactive drag and drop flashcards for studying key module terms; short assessments with immediate feedback for each key session, an “Interest Center” containing additional content for further study and a final branched decision making activity focused to prepare students for Module 1 content on the ChE exam.

  • Enterprise micro- and macroeconomic principles such as industry and firm behavior, choice and demand, production and supply
  • Applied business research methods, forecasting, interpretation, and analysis
  • Market analysis and how firms across industries compete with one another
  • Dynamic decision making including the study of financial risk, capital markets, sound budgeting, and the study of monetary policy
  • Organizational management, including organizational design, and effectively communicating strategic economic issues, including focus on activities that build competency in business English.
