Social Care with Children and Families Course

Family is the smallest unit of the society however there are some difficulties they face that may need assistance from someone outside of their small unit, since the problem is within the family members. They may need social care and assistance. Social workers help families’ deal with problems like poverty, physical and substance abuse, and illness of a family member.

Social workers should be open-minded, compassionate, exercise fair judgment, and they need to have sound decision making skills.

At the end of this course, students shall learn how to: (1) understand the sociological and political perspectives of the family; (2) understand the principles of social care; (3) be familiar with the process of social care; (4) do direct work; (5) work with adults; (6) understand child abuse; (7) provide care for children; and (8) be aware of the changes family experiences.

To achieve these goals, this course shall make use of interactive materials to present the concepts of the topics to be discussed. Assessments shall be done after the entire course to check for knowledge retention and understanding.

Course Format

This course is divided into several modules and is delivered online through our interactive learning management system. Students are given access to the learning portal where they can access the course 24/7. This gives them complete control over the pace of their learning while also enabling them to study from home, in their offices or from a laptop while traveling.

Course Duration:

Normative or minimum period of study to complete this is 45 hours. Take note that this is only an estimate.
