The roles that the Teacher Assistants or TA play is vast it includes leading review sessions even leading field trips, writing exams or grading quizzes, projects, homework and assignments and perform other general support duties. Most TAs provides assistance in teaching and managing students with learning behavioral disorders. Setting goals promotes effectiveness and efficiency, target goals like interacting directly with underperforming students, students who have shorter attention span or one that requires more assistance

Description

Teaching is a passion and also a vocation there are challenges present in every four walls of a classroom like a student misbehaving. This scenario calls for a higher discipline from teachers. Different approaches should be created how to handle the many possible challenging scenarios that could happen in a classroom.

Two key components in managing classroom behaviour are communicating expectations effectively and encouraging a cooperative learning environment that promotes higher academic learning.

At the end of this course, students shall learn how to:

(1) cooperate with the teacher;

(2) aid the students;

(3) understand the curriculum;

(4) understand the teachers assistants role in the school;

(5) understand ICT in the classroom;

(6) deal with special educational needs;

(7) assist literacy development;

(8) support numeracy development; and

(9) cooperate with others.

(10) create presence in a classroom;

(11) encourage an environment for learning;

(12) educate children with special educational needs; and

(13) deal with disputes.

To achieve these goals, this course shall make use of interactive materials to present the concepts of the topics to be discussed. Assessments shall be done after the entire course to check for knowledge retention and understanding.

In a learning environment promoting values like respect, honesty, integrity, cooperation, confidence, self-expression and self-esteem should be enhanced and cultivated while interacting with the teachers and students.

Managing behaviour in the classroom is not an easy task. Teachers should be able to create an authority presence in the classroom with a right balance of being approachable when a challenging scenario arises.
