Description

Our ITonlinelearning Certificate in Programming (Level 1) is designed to provide you with an introduction to programming.

The skills and knowledge gained can be used to begin building your new career as a programmer.

This bundle of courses covers the programming basics and history of both C# and Python programming languages.

For brand new programmers, we recommend starting with the Python course first.

Python

This Python course starts by going through how to download and install it. The course further shows you how you can use Python interactively at the command line as well as with a source code editor. We then look at the language itself by looking at some of the concepts behind syntax. We then look at comments, variables and the importance of indenting code to which is very important when coding with Python. We will go over keywords and built-in types. Lastly, we talk about documentation strings that become attached to objects and finish with a course summary.

C#

This C# course covers the basics and history of .NET, and where Visual Studio and C# fit in. We explore a basic .NET program so that you begin to understand the structure of C# code and .NET. We then look into the C# language and why it’s such a strong tool for developing applications. Lastly, we will look at the course as a whole in the summary module.

Once completed, you will have the necessary programming skills to begin developing small applications.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
