This distance learning IGCSE Mathematics course from UK Distance Learning & Publishing is designed to help meet the needs of those who want an introduction to this challenging subject, either with a view to further study at A Level or simply to supplement a portfolio of IGCSE/GCSE subjects.
- An essential subject for all students, IGCSE Mathematics is a fully examined course which encourages the development of mathematical knowledge as a key life skill, and as a basis for more advanced study. The syllabus aims to build students' confidence by helping them develop a feel for numbers, patterns and relationships, and places a strong emphasis on solving problems and presenting and interpreting results. Students also learn how to communicate and reason using mathematical concepts.

Syllabus
Module 1 - Demonstrate knowledge understanding and skills in number and algebra:
- Numbers and the numbering system
- Calculations
- Solving Numerical Problems
- Equations, formulae and identities
- Sequences functions and graphs
Module 2 - Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skills in shape, space and measures:
- Geometry
- Vectors and transformation geometry
Module 3 - Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skills in handling data
- Statistics
Assessments
The course contains a number of assignments which your tutor will mark and give you valuable feedback on. We call these Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs). You need only send the TMAs to your tutor for comment, not the self-assessment exercises which are also part of the course to help you gauge your progress.
What's Included
You will have access to a tutor, via email, who will mark your work and guide you through the course to help you be ready for your examinations. In addition you will be supplied with a comprehensive Study Guide which will help you through the study and assessment process.
The course pack includes, guidance on relevant study skills and full tutor support comprising:
- the marking of a series of assignments
- written answers to specific study problems
- 12 month tutor support via emails
- a copy of our study guide, will give you guidance on studying and submitting assignments
Study Time
Study Hours are an approximate figure and are dependant upon how much time you can dedicate to your studies and how well you grasp the learning concepts in the course material. Furthermore, at the end of each lesson there is a question paper that needs to be completed and returned to your tutor. You should allow enough time to complete assignments/ question papers.
The approximate amount of time required to complete the Mathematics IGCSE Course is: 140 hrs
