Description

ILSPA's Legal Secretaries Diploma course is equivalent to a level 3 qualification. It is designed to provide you with legal knowledge and practical skills to either go into employment or advance your existing career. You will learn general legal procedures, key Legal Secretary skills and various areas of law. You will also advance your word processing skills through legal document production, completing legal forms and typing professional correspondence.

Our live online classes take place one evening a week for 12 weeks via Zoom. You will be taught about law and legal procedures, be able to interact with your tutor and connect with a group of Students.

Class Students are required to study set subjects and receive support and encouragement from their tutor. Students regularly provide us with feedback on how much they have enjoyed the classes and have found our tutors to be friendly and helpful. As well as receiving support from your tutor, you can contact our team for help with your coursework through our online portal.

Alongside attending classes, you will need to set aside time to study and complete the online coursework each week. Your study material, coursework and Student resources will be available through the Student and Member area of our website, which you will have access to once enrolled. You will have up to one year to submit your coursework.

The syllabus includes the following set units:

  • General Legal Procedures*
  • Key Legal Secretary Skills*
  • The English Legal System
  • Law of Contract and Tort
  • Civil Litigation
  • Land Law and Conveyancing
  • Wills, Probate and Administration

Student Review:

I took the course with no previous legal experience, but looking for a career change, and I was not disappointed! Seamus is a great tutor, he explains things very clearly, goes at a pace suitable for everyone and has a good sense of humor to keep things interesting. The course content exceeded my expectations and I certainly feel prepared and confident to start applying for roles within the legal sector. I would recommend this course to anyone with an interest in law. Rachel Clement, Reading.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
