Overview
The level 3 warehousing course route is designed for team leaders and junior managers with experience in warehousing. You can choose to develop your skills in leadership or business operations from the elective units available with an option to study specific aspects of warehousing relevant your career. The aim of the course is to provide you with the skills, knowledge and recognised qualification to develop into a middle/senior management position within the warehousing industry.
The Institute of Supply Chain Management qualifications can be completed in a flexible manner, tailored to the needs of the individual studying. Those wishing to complete the qualification can achieve the required elements through a combination of study/development and demonstration of competence. When enrolling on one of these qualifications individuals will be provided with a breakdown of the requirements for the units included or those they have selected.
Description
This course covers the initial mandatory units required to gain the IoSCM award as below. Students are required to complete one of the following units
Leadership
This unit focuses on enabling you to understand the attributes and skills required in becoming an effective leader. The unit looks at setting objectives along with ways they can be measured and achieved. There are several different types of leaders and different methods of leadership; this unit looks at which leadership styles are appropriate for differing situations. Communicating messages to the work team on how to achieve workplace objectives is addressed with an emphasis on motivating the team to achieve goals and providing feedback to support a team.
Business
Understanding the legalities of a contract is important in any business. This unit explains the law relating to both the offer and the acceptance of a contract while exploring the formation of that contract, consumer protection and issues relating to breach of contract. The unit will look at health and safety matters and how to conduct appropriate assessments. The unit also investigates communication skills, how to produce the most effective corporate communications and furthermore how these communications can be relayed to different types of audience. The importance of a structure within a business is also be explored, outlining both types of business and the roles and responsibilities of business functions. The unit will also look at human resources and the factors that should be taken into account when implementing policies as well as the role of HR in measuring staff performance and aiding motivation in the workplace.
