Overview
On this course you will learn how to get online and navigate websites; also how to stay safe online and how to use the internet to communicate with others. If you've never used the internet, or want to expand your current experience, this course is for you. We use the Microsoft Office Suite of programs on this course, so it may be advantageous to have them installed on your own machine. However, you will be able to do many of the tasks we teach using the tools built into Windows together with free downloads from the Intenet.
Who is it for?
This course will get you started on Word, Excel and Outlook. You will learn how to get produce documents, create spreadsheets, and manage time and communications.
Description
Week 1 - Introduction
Looking at the possibilities of the Microsoft Office suite of programs; common functions; opening and closing files, editing.
Week 2 - Word
Creating a document; working with texts and fonts; headings and margins; adding pictures and graphics; sizing, editing and printing your finished work.
Week 3 - Excel
Working with data; potential uses for an Excel document; looking at worksheets; entering data; using formulas; formatting and printing.
Week 4 - Other Applications
A brief introduction to Access, Publisher and PowerPoint; what they do and how you can use them.
Week 5 - Outlook
Using this tool for communication and personal information management; investigating the main features - email, calendar, contacts; ways of printing and linking to other programs.
Week 6 - Consolidation
Time to review aspects of the course; answering any questions; revising and resolving any issues relating to Microsoft Office.
Requirements
You should have a basic knowledge of using a computer such as opening programs and using files and folders.
