This International GCSE Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Course is ideal for anyone wishing to gain a knowledge and understanding of this subject. You will also find this course extremely valuable if you are looking for a progression route for further training whilst employed.

This course will help students develop an understanding of how ICT influences them in their everyday life. Worldwide research has shown that ICT can lead to improved student learning and better teaching methods. A report made by the National Institute of Multimedia Education in Japan, proved that an increase in student exposure to educational ICT through curriculum integration has a significant and positive impact on student achievement, especially in terms of knowledge, comprehension, practical skills and presentation skills.

The Edexcel International GCSE in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is assessed through:

- Written examination paper
- Practical examination paper.

Paper 1: Written paper

This written examination, lasting one hour and 30 minutes, will consist of multiple-choice and short-answer questions. All questions should be attempted. There will be no choice of questions. The questions will be graded and arranged in order of increasing difficulty. The examination is untiered and will be targeted at students across the ability range A* – G.

Externally assessed in June - Written paper lasting one hour 30 minutes

Total marks available is 100

Paper 2: Practical paper

This practical computer-based examination, taken under controlled conditions, will consist of structured activities. It will take three hours (including printing time). The examination is untiered and will be targeted at students across the ability range A* – G. A one-week window of assessment will be provided in May.

There are three exams for this IGCSE, two of which are 2 hours 30 minutes and the other is 2 hours long. Grades 9-1 are available.
