Our Fast Track A Level courses are 1 year courses with which you will receive priority tutor support throughout the duration. Upon completion of the course you will receive a certificate awarded by a national awarding body such as Edexcel, AQA and OCR. We also offer UCAS points with these courses which will vary depending on the grade you receive.
An Advanced Level in Geography is a perfect qualification for those wishing to acquire knowledge and understanding of the subject to enable them to study at a higher level at university. It also provides a progression route for further training whilst in employment.
This specification is designed to:

How is the course structured?
The A Level Geography (Full AS + A2) course is divided in to four comprehensive units
AS Level
Unit 1 Physical and Human Geography
The study of core geographical concepts along with contrasting themes of contemporary or environmental impact, management and sustainability.
Unit 2 Geographical Skills
A geographical skills paper based on the content of Unit 1.
Skills include: investigative, cartographic, graphical, ICT and statistical skills.
A2 Level
Unit 3 Contemporary Geographical Issues
An issues-based approach to contemporary geographical themes.
Unit 4A Geography Field Work Investigation
This unit gives candidates the opportunity to extend an area of the subject content into a more detailed fieldwork study.
Candidates analyse and evaluate their fieldwork in response to the questions set. In addition, candidates will be assessed on fieldwork skills.
or: Unit 4B Geographical Issue Evaluation
This unit gives candidates the opportunity to use their skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation.
An advance information booklet is pre-released 2 months prior to the exam to facilitate candidates' research into an area which extends from the specification content.

Course Assessments
AS/A2 - A level in Geography. Both AS and A2 level courses and examinations must be successfully completed to gain a full A level.
Format of Examination
Unit 1 – Physical and Human Geography
- 70 % of AS, 35% of A Level
- 2 hour written examination
- 120 marks
- Structured short and extended questions
Unit 2 – Geographical Skills
- 30% of AS, 15% of A Level
- 1 hour written examination
- 50 marks
- Structured skills and generic fieldwork questions
Unit 3 – Contemporary Geographical Issues
- 30% of A Level
- 2 hour 30 minutes written examination
- 90 marks
- Structured short and extended questions, plus an essay
Unit 4: either
GEO4A: Geography Fieldwork Investigation – structured short and extended questions based on fieldwork investigation and fieldwork skills
GEO4B: Geographical Issue Evaluation – structured short and extended questions based on an Advanced Information Booklet
- 1 hour 30 minute written examination
- 20% of A Level
- 60 marks
