Are there any requirements?
To enrol on the course, you must be over 18 and working in a HR or Learning and Development environment. There are no formal qualifications required as prerequisites for the course, however it is recommended that students have English and Mathematics qualifications at GCSE level. You will need regular access to the Internet and you must be resident in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man. If English is not your first language an IELTS 5.5 or equivalent is required.

The Intermediate Diploma in Human Resource Management offers the ideal platform to further your HR skills and other specialist knowledge. This intermediate CIPD qualification is for you if you are seeking to build a career in HR management or are already working in the field of HR management and need to extend your knowledge and HR skills.
The CIPD course will examine the role of an HR manager and a human resources department, looking at the different aspects of the role and how the functions are managed and coordinated.
Using both home study and workshops, you will study aspects of human resource development including resource and talent planning, and reward management. You'll also be able to learn more about employment law and contemporary developments in employment relations.
Module breakdown:
To achieve the CIPD Intermediate Diploma in Human Resource Management, you need a total of 44 credits gained by completed the following units.
- Developing professional practice
- Using information in HR
- Business issues and the contexts of HR
- Managing and coordinating the HR function
Please note: there are two workshops which all students must attend. The first workshop covers the first two modules and the second workshop covers the second two modules.
- Resourcing and talent planning
- Reward management
- Employment law
- Contemporary developments in employment relations
Please note: each workshop is two days long at a cost of £106 per workshop and are held at locations in both London and Birmingham.

- You'll receive study materials that have been specially designed for distance learning by experts in your field of study, and you will work with step-by-step modules to guide your learning.
- You'll have access to an experienced personal tutor both online and over the phone, ready to help you with guidance and motivation. These mentors will offer you unlimited support to make your study experience with us as smooth as possible (available for 14 months).

How will I be assessed?
To gain your full qualification you will need to complete Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) and two face-to-face weekend workshop sessions.
