Description
Our accredited CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management is ideal if you are an ambitious human resources professional.
Don’t yet have time for a diploma programme? Become a skilled human resource management professional.
MOL has developed this programme to help you achieve your CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management using our proven blend of distance learning methods.
What will I learn?
You’ll gain:
- a comprehensive knowledge of the issues facing HR professionals
- an insight into the theory behind HR management and strategy
Our programme stands out among CIPD providers because all the theory you’ll learn can be applied to the workplace. We bridge the gap between what you learn and what employers want. We focus on contemporary, highly relevant subjects, so your qualification reflects the realities of HR management – and can even be a step ahead.
The programme is broken down into six units:
- developing professional practice
- business issues and the contexts of human resources
- managing and co-ordinating the human resources function
- using information in human resources
- improving organisational performance
- employee engagement
You’ll develop analytic and problem solving skills you can use every day of your career. Our focus is firmly on the professional, rather than the academic.
How will I learn?
We offer a varied, bite-size approach to learning to suit your busy lifestyle. We’ll ask you to commit just 8-10 hours a week to self-directed study. We break the material down into realistic chunks so you can study when it suits you.
We pride ourselves on the blend of learning methods we offer to help you achieve your qualification. These include:
- workshops
- virtual learning environment (VLE)
- webinars (online learning sessions)
- individual tutor support
- self-directed learning
We’ll ask you to attend a day-long workshop once a month. We’ll give you the dates well in advance so you have plenty of time to plan.
Our teaching style is interactive - we don’t lecture you. Workshops are your opportunity to discuss the material with your industry colleagues and apply it to real examples. They’re also a great chance to network. Your MOL tutor will encourage discussions that help you get the most from the material. We select passionate, knowledgeable HR professionals to support and inspire you throughout the programme.
You can get support from your tutor over the phone, by email and through our virtual learning environment. We’re usually available in the day, evening and at weekends and there’s no limit to the amount of support on offer.
You’ll find reading materials, research activities and links to videos and podcasts on the VLE. You’ll have the opportunity to create your own learner blog.
As part of your learning materials, we're including a FREE Microsoft Surface Tablet (which is yours to keep at the end of your programme). It will help you interact with the workshop activities, MOL’s VLE and research online resources, giving you access to your programme on the go.
How long will it take me?
The certificate programme takes just 36 weeks – significantly less time than you’d invest in a diploma programme.
What will I gain?
You’ll gain a CIPD Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management. You’ll be able to apply for Associate CIPD membership.
The theory you learn is an excellent basis for level 7 qualifications.
When can I start?
We offer three start dates a year so you can fit your qualification around your busy life. MOL offers this flexibility because we know you need to consider your circumstances and factors like your employer’s budget cycle.
We offer start dates in spring, summer and winter in London and Manchester.
We offer start dates subject to demand in Bristol, Birmingham, Cambridge, Cardiff, Glasgow Edinburgh, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Nottingham and Southampton.
Who is this course for?
Our intermediate certificate programme is aimed at ambitious HR professionals. It may be ideal if you:
- work in an operational human resources (HR) role and are ready to step up into strategic HR
- would like to gain CIPD membership but aren’t ready to commit to the cost and workload of a diploma programme
- are considering taking level 7 CIPD qualifications in the future
The programme can be a useful bridge between level 3 and level 7 CIPD qualifications. It builds on what you’ve learnt and introduces the theory and research you’ll study in depth at level 7.
