Overview

The course is designed to be coherent, relevant to employer needs, supportive of the CIMA professional qualification and an enhancement of the student learning experience. New topics that reflect significant emerging issues facing the business and financial communities (such as the causes and effects of the current global banking and financial crises) have been introduced to ensure that the qualification remains relevant.

ICS offers the CIMAstudy online learning system, the only official online study resource that is reviewed and approved by CIMA. The online learning system takes you step-by-step through the CIMA qualification, with each course teaching you all of the theory you need to learn. Study topics are explained clearly using interactive cases, and there are tests and exercises at every stage that reinforce learning and allow you to test your knowledge.

In addition to the CIMAstudy online learning system ICS also provides every student with CIMA approved study materials, including the CIMA Exam Practice Kit and CIMA Exam Revision Cards. These paper-based study resources are there to complement your online learning.

You will also have the support by telephone and email from a dedicated and qualified ICS tutor to answer any queries you have in relation to the content of the course. If you need technical help, this is provided directly by CIMAstudy.com, not ICS.

The certificate level gives you business experience beyond just financial accounting and you'll gain insight into how the different areas of accounting relate to the business world.

The Certificate in Business Accounting syllabus contains five subjects, each with its own examination. It forms the basis of the CIMA Professional Qualification.

It can be seen as a knowledge refresher course or a foundation to a career in business and finance. The Certificate in Business Accounting forms the basis of the CIMA Professional Qualification and is a valuable qualification on its own.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
