Overview

The programme will provide an in-depth grounding in charity governance and finance, and will provide options in the 2nd year which can be tailored towards individual needs. Participation in the programme will enable students to: demonstrate an awareness of social, political, economic, and technological issues affecting charitable organisations; identify and demonstrate an understanding of key issues in charity management; complete a dissertation based on a project relating to a particular interest in the area of charity management; acquire knowledge and understanding of the ethical issues relating to charity management.

Requirements:

At least a 2nd Class Honours degree from a UK or overseas university or equivalent or have a satisfactory level of working experience within the charity sector. Consequently, mature students with managerial experience but with limited educational qualifications will be considered. Applicants should preferably be working for a charitable organisation (paid or unpaid), but this is not a requirement and all applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Modules include: governance and management; charity finance and investment; marketing and fundraising; strategic management; international non-governmental organisations (INGO); social entrepreneurship; charity and the law; research methods and dissertation.
