Fashion is an art of self-expression since what we wear is a projection of how we see ourselves and how we want others to see us, it is a way of communicating to others who we are, and it is also a reflection of social, culture, political and economic status, while fashion design is applying design and aesthetics to clothing and accessories. Fashion design aims to design clothes that have the blend of functionality, comfort and style. Aside from creativity, fashion designers have to understand the basics of production, marketing and business concepts.
At the end of this course, students shall learn how to: (1) understand fashion design; (2) gain familiarization through the overview of the industry; (3) acquire essential skills; (4) understand colours, textures and sketches; (5) understand the job market ; (6) start your own business; (7) make your designs.
To achieve these goals, this course shall make use of interactive materials to present the concepts of the topics to be discussed. Assessments shall be done after the entire course to check for knowledge retention and understanding.
