The Level 2 Certificate in Cleaning Principles course is divided into following comprehensive modules.

Unit 1 – Dealing with routine and non-routine waste  

This unit will help you understand the requirements for dealing with routine and non-routine waste. You will consider the requirements of recycling waste and also how to handle, deal with and transfer hazardous and non-hazardous waste and clinical waste. When you have completed this unit you should know and understand:

  • Procedures for handling routine and non-routine waste
  • How to handle and transfer routine and non-routine waste

Unit 2 – Health and safety for the cleaning and support services industry 

This unit introduces you to health and safety legislation, how to work in a safe manner and how to control risks. When you have completed this unit you should know and understand:

  • The health and safety legislation which applies to the cleaning and support services industry
  • How to work in a safe manner
  • How to control risks in the workplace

Unit 3 – Working with customers and others in the cleaning and support services industry

This unit introduces you to the ways in which you should communicate politely and effectively with customers and others when performing cleaning tasks. You will also cover responding appropriately when disagreements arise. When you have completed this unit you should know and understand:

  • How to communicate effectively with customers
  • How to meet customers’ needs
  • How to contribute to effective team working

Unit 4 – Cleaning of interiors and washrooms   

This unit introduces you to maintaining levels of cleanliness in environments where there is a high risk of infection to the employee and the environment. When you have completed this unit you should know and understand:

  • How to prepare for the cleaning of interiors and washrooms
  • How to carry out the cleaning of interiors and washrooms
  • How to check cleaning and resources, dispose of waste and return equipment

Course Assessments

The Level 2 Certificate in Cleaning Principles courseis marked through a process of continuous assessment guided by your tutor following NCFE guidelines. This means that your qualification will be awarded according to your performance on assessments rather than by taking an exam.

We send the full course out, you then read through the course in your own time and complete the assignments which you send to your tutor for marking. There is no word count for these assignments. However, one sentence answers will be rejected and you will have to re-submit it for marking.

Upon verification of the activities, exercises and assignments, a certificate of achievement will be awarded by the national awarding organisation NCFE, as confirmation that your written work has met all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the programme.
