You’ll need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills. We cannot help students find a placement.

What skills will I gain?

The CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care helps develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in a senior role with adults in health and social care environments. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health care procedures.

It has three pathways:

  • Generic Health and Social Care
  • Dementia
  • Learning Disability

Module breakdown

It is made up of three pathways: Generic Health and Social Care, Dementia, and Learning Disability. It also contains units from the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England.

Qualification Structure

Total credits required to complete the qualifcation (all pathways): 58 credits with at least 35 of these being achieved at Level 3 or above.

Group A Mandatory Units - For All Pathways

  • Promote communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young
  • people’s settings
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • The role of the health and social care worker
  • Promote person-centred approaches in health and social care
  • Promote and implement health and safety in health and social care
  • Promote good practice in handling information in health and social care settings

The mandatory units cover 28 credits. The different optional units will be introduced to you throughout the course – you must complete another 30 units to attain the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.

How will I be assessed?

  • You’ll be assessed in the workplace - there will be a charge of £150 per visit from the assessor.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
