About Business Law
Our Business Law course is designed to introduce students who are preparing for a career in business to some of the legal rules and issues which you will encounter once you enter the world of commerce.
You will not become an expert in any area of the law as a result of studying the course, however at the end of your study of this course it is hoped that you will not only have increased your knowledge about the law as it applies to the business world; but that you would have developed some competence at identifying legal issues, applying legal rules to factual situations and having a European perspective
Description
Module 1 – The Nature of Law
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Summarise the importance of law
Discuss the principle sources of law in Britain
Identify the courts and other bodies that have been established to resolve disputes
Identify the personnel who are to be found in the legal system
Module 2 – Legal Relationships
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Define the term “legal relationships” and discuss the range of these relationships
Summarise the characteristics of sole traders and partnerships
Discuss the elements involved in the formation of a company
List the factors that deal with the managing of a company
Module 3 – Business Contracts
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Explain the process of making a contract
List the things that could possible go wrong during the making of a contract
List and explain the contractual terms mentioned in this unit
Explain the various ways in which contracts can be discharged
Module 4 – Non-Contractual Obligations of the Seller/Producer
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Summarise the non-contractual obligations of the seller/producer
Module 5 – European Community Law
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Discuss how the European Union uses the law as the medium by which it achieves its objectives
