Description
The programme starts with an induction to the core nature of the profession and programme and legal research. You then study a number of compulsory modules that cover the key skills and knowledge areas required for the profession.

Requirements:
Applicants require a qualifying law degree (minimum lower 2nd Class Honours) or qualifying non-law degree (minimum lower 2nd Class Honours) and a GDL or CPE. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.5 (or equivalent). You must also pass the Bar Course Aptitude Test (BCAT) and join an Inn of Court.

Assessed is by written examinations and oral skills assessments.

Modules include: Advocacy; conference skills; civil litigation and evidence; criminal litigation and evidence; drafting; opinion writing; professional ethics; resolution of disputes out of court. Optional modules: advanced criminal litigation; asylum, detention, deportation and extradition; commercial dispute resolution; company; employment; family; international trade; intellectual property; judicial review; intellectual property; personal injury and clinical negligence; professional discipline; property and chancery; public international criminal law.
