Description
The BA (Hons) Business and Finance provides a degree with a strong focus on employability, it is aimed at students who have an interest in developing their knowledge of business and finance, and particularly those who are looking to pursue a career in the business finance area.
Year 1 provides you with a good understanding of the foundations of business alongside the fundamentals of accounting and finance. Years 2 and 3 gives you in-depth knowledge of how companies make financial and investment decisions under uncertainty and risk, and how financial markets function. The programme provides the intellectual underpinnings required for a career in a rapidly changing work environment, a rigorous approach to self-awareness and personal development and a significant exposure to the world of work and its current demands through work experience opportunities.
Students will have an opportunity to qualify for the CMI Level 5 Extended Diploma in Management and Leadership. This is a good opportunity to develop the skills that are required to become ready for the workplace, while gaining a formal qualification and building a skills portfolio that you can show future employers.
This degree offers an excellent grounding in business and finance and will help students develop decision making and analytical skills as well as acting as a foundation for further study in accounting or quantitative investment. Furthermore students gain valuable experience in elements of research, presentation and communication skills as well as building team work and problem solving skills, which should be helpful for future employment opportunities.
Face-to-face learning is supported by online resources, including the Financial Times, case studies, simulations, learning videos, reading materials, online testing and feedback.
