The Award in Education and Training is the introductory course to teaching and training, which teaches you about the roles and responsibilities as a tutor and how to plan lessons, resources and assessments to meet the needs of different learners.

The Award in Education and Training can be used when entering teaching across a range of subjects and industries. MKLC has taught the Award in Education and Training to students from across the world with varying levels of experience with teaching and online learning, across a number of industries including medical, beauty, construction, military, public services, charities and many more.

At MKLC we have designed the Award in Education and Training course content to be accessible for all, in addition to the option of a week or month course, the course lessons are self paced, so if you feel confident in certain areas you progress quickly through these to the areas you wish to focus more on. You can also complete the assignments in the order you prefer. You will receive feedback from your tutor within 48 hours of submission, but each piece is independent so you can submit more than one piece on the same day.

You have contact with your tutor by e-mail, as well as the main office 9am to 5pm which is staffed only by employees who are qualified teachers and assessors and have experience with the courses, including the Award in Education and Training course to be able to give you the most effective response to queries.

Description

The Award in Education and Training course is a level 3 qualification accredited by TQUK, an Ofqual accredited Awarding Body, ensuring the course meets a standard of quality.

Course content:

The Award in Education and Training consists of three units:

  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training

Including legislation relating to your teaching practice, how the role works alongside other professionals and the importance of equality and diversity.

  • Understanding and using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in education and training

Including motivation and ground rules, planning and demonstrating inclusive teaching and learning approaches

  • Understanding assessment in education and training

Including the types and methods of assessments and how these can be adapted to meet different needs, how to give effective constructive feedback and safeguarding.

  • Course structure

The Award in Education and Training teaching which can be divided into two sections, the lessons which you work through at your own pace, then the assessments. The Award in Education and Training assignments consists of some questions and answers, some worksheets and preparing a lesson plan, these are usually completed by word document, there are reasonable adjustments available for those who need them, for example professional discussions. To complete the assignments you will need to use the lessons as well as applying you own knowledge and research.

On the final day of the course you will be completing a microteach, this is a short teaching session. The topic for your microteach does not need to be what you are planning to teach as the shorter lesson time may not be suited to some topics. During your course, we will help you choose a suitable topic which will enable you to demonstrate the stages of the lesson. For the microteach, you can either be observed teaching your own learners or MKLC can provide learners.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
