Overview
This Access to Higher Education Diploma (Medicine and Health Care Professions)** is a generalist specified diploma with a balance of Biological Science, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology. The Access qualification is a popular, nationally recognised qualification designed to provide you with the skills needed to apply for education degree courses at universities.
This distance learning course is suitable if you wish to take medicine and healthcare related courses at university, but don’t have the required entry qualifications. It’s been created for learners who’ve been out of full time education for some time.
Whilst you will have a great deal of flexibility with your studies, you’ll need to develop the discipline to study independently as well as be realistic about what you can achieve in the time you have available. Contact is all available with fellow students via our unique platform, and through debates and forums where you can share thoughts and ideas.
Description
Your chosen pathway will be made up of a number of units, each of which will require you to complete an assignment. You’ll find ‘assessment planners’ included within the course materials for each unit; these are designed to help you to complete the relevant assignment. Your personal tutor will be responsible for marking your assignments and giving you with feedback about the work you’ve produced, and how you can improve.
All assignments provide the evidence required to award you with learning credits. You will need 60 credits to achieve an Access to Higher Education Diploma. Of the 60 credits required, 15 will be ungraded and 45 will be graded as a Pass, Merit or Distinction.
This is only an approximate figure and is dependant upon how much time you can dedicate to your studies and how well you grasp the learning concepts in the course material. Furthermore, at the end of each lesson there is a question paper that needs to be completed and returned to your tutor. You should allow at least 1 - 2 hours of study to complete each question paper. The minimum expected time a learner would take to complete their Access to Higher Education Diploma is 9 months, the maximum is 2 years. After a short amount of time on the course you’ll be capable of things you hadn’t previously thought possible.
