We are committed to providing our Temporary Employees with appropriate support and opportunities for training and development.
Reed provides a holiday pay scheme to our Temporary Employees. In this section you will find details of how this works and how your holiday pay is calculated.
Please note that for Temporary Employees working for Reed Educational Professionals, your daily rate of pay includes your full entitlement to statutory holiday pay, so the holiday pay procedures set out here do not apply.
Reed’s holiday pay scheme offers a maximum of 5.6 weeks or 28 days holiday pay per year. The amount of holiday pay you receive will depend upon your earnings.
How is my paid holiday calculated?
For each week that you work, you will accumulate a value in your 'Holiday Pot'. This value is calculated as follows:
The figure of 12.07 is calculated by:
How will I know how much I can claim?
Each week your payslip will show the number of hours (Holiday Hours) you may take and the hourly rate you will be paid. Multiplying these two figures together will give you the total value in your Holiday Pot.
The number of Holiday Hours that you have accumulated is calculated on a weekly basis by dividing the total in your Holiday Pot by that week's hourly pay rate.
The pay rate* that you will receive for your Holiday Hours is calculated by dividing the Holiday Pot by the total Holiday Hours you have accumulated.
* Please note that if your hourly pay rate changes then your holiday pay rate will also fluctuate, as it is an average value.
When must I take my holiday?
The holiday year runs from January to December and any holiday entitlement accrued during that year must be taken in the same year. Holiday not taken by the end of December cannot be carried over into the next holiday year.
You will not be automatically be paid for any Bank Holidays from your Holiday Pot. If you would like to receive your annual leave entitlement on bank holidays, you will have to book these days as holidays.
How do I arrange my holiday?
All paid holiday must be booked using the OnTime® system. The dates requested will be forwarded to your Temporaries Consultant for authorisation. You must give at least two weeks notice, as specified in your terms and conditions of employment.
If I want more details whom do I speak to?
If you have any queries then please contact your Temporaries Consultant.
Unfortunately, The Reed Travel Benefit scheme is currently suspended.
Reed guarantees to offer you at least 336 hours of work on assignment over the course of any full 12 month period, commencing on the first day of your first assignment at an hourly pay rate at least equivalent to the National Minimum Wage. This entitlement is not pro-rated for any period of less than 12 months (please see your terms and conditions of employment). If you refuse to accept hours offered or if suitable work is not available then your contract with Reed will be terminated.
What happens when I leave Reed?
When a temporary employee informs the branch in advance of the date that they are no longer available for work then RTB must be stopped immediately.
