The Quick SearchThe Quick Search is a very popular way of searching, particularly if you are looking for something very specific. It is located in the top left-hand corner of most pages.

- A salary range

- Job location
- A combination of all 5
Once you have entered all or any details you want to search on, click on the ‘Search’ button to see jobs that match your criteria.
Keywords
This is a very flexible way to search and, if you have a good idea of what you are looking for, can save you a lot of time.
Entering keywords allows you to search for words and phrases that appear in jobs posted on reed.co.uk. Keywords can be used alone or in combination with other search criteria to provide more accurate results.
Keywords can include:
- Skills and qualifications (e.g. shorthand, HTML)
- Professional experience (e.g. "project management")
- Job titles (e.g. "Nuclear Physicist")
Keywords can be:
- Individual words (e.g. marketing)
- Exact phrases, which should be entered in quotation marks (e.g. "financial management")
You can decide whether you want to search for keywords in job titles and descriptions or job titles only, using the radio buttons beneath the keyword field.
The words AND, OR and NOT enable you to search for combinations of keywords. You can also search for variations of the same word by adding an asterisk to it.

Job sector:
When companies and recruiters add jobs to reed.co.uk they choose the most relevant job sector from our sector list.
There are two ways to refine your search by job sector:
- You can simply select a sector from the drop-down list in the quick search and then search within that sector only.
Or
- You can click on one of the sectors in the centre of the homepage. This will take you through to that sector’s dedicated page. Once you have done this, the job sector box within the quick search will change so that the drop-down list is now the sub-sectors within your chosen sector. This will allow you to search in a more targeted way.
Enter town/county:
reed.co.uk has a comprehensive list of locations, which means that you should be able to search for jobs in any location in the UK.
If you enter a location in the box and search you will return a list of all jobs where the location matches the one you entered.
If you have some flexibility about where you wish to work you may want to widen the search area around your location. To do this you can choose a distance from the drop-down list. The results will then include all jobs within your chosen area.
reed.co.uk recognises city, town and county names as they are entered. If you misspell a name then you will be prompted with some suggestions. You can then choose your location from the list of options.
Salary:
Most people have a good idea of the salary they are looking for in their next role. Even if you are unsure of exactly how much you are looking for*, entering a range can help reduce the number, and increase the relevance, of jobs displayed to you.
As well as entering an upper and lower limit for your expected salary you can make the search relevant to the type of work you are looking for. For example, if you are looking for temporary work then you may wish to search by hourly or weekly rate rather than per annum. Similarly, if you are contracting you may want to look at daily rates.
Examples of how you could enter your salary/pay rate requirements:
- From: £12000 To: £15000 per annum
- From: £5.50 To: £8.50 per hour
Job Type:
reed.co.uk allows you to choose whether you want to search for a permanent, contract, part-time or temporary job.
You can select any number of job types to act as search parameters. The job type will be clearly displayed on the job description.
